The 14th edition of the international artistic perfumery event
it promises to be full of new brands, olfactory experiences and novelties.

Milan, 31 January 2024 – Esxence – The Art Perfumery Event, the reference event for Artistic Perfumery worldwide, is preparing for its 14th edition which will be held from 6 to 9 March 2024 in the spaces of Allianz MiCo, Milan Convention Centre, inside CityLife District. The event, which every year brings together a selection of the best national and international brands of designer perfumery, is ready for the opening on March 6th to present to the international community of operators and enthusiasts the best of research perfumery in the name of the most authentic.
There will be numerous new features, starting from the large participation of brands, this year more than 360, coming from 30 different countries, some of which are new entries, such as Australia, Korea, Holland, Estonia as well as brands from Italy, France, Spain , Greece, Austria, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, USA, UK, UAE, Japan, Singapore and Hong Kong, to name a few.
The historic and emerging parent companies will present the excellence of artistic perfumery. The brands are selected by the Technical Committee, made up of internationally known experts, based on the quality of the proposals and the distribution criteria. Esxence offers visitors only the best of author production, confirming Milan as the reference capital of the sector. In the over 14,000 m2 of MiCo, compared to 8,000 last year, together with the Main Brands, the public of distributors, buyers, operators and fragrance lovers will have the opportunity to get to know the Spotlights, emerging and innovative brands. Most of them (around 70%) come from abroad; this trend confirms Esxence as a prestigious and unique opportunity to make itself known on the international scene.
The concept that will guide visitors to discover this new edition is METAMORPHOSIS. Perfume understood as a metamorphosis and natural evolution, from the raw materials that make up the fragrance and change over time, to the sense of smell that gives the possibility of enjoying new sensory stimuli, while everything around is continuously transformed.
Esxence is a place of excellence, of exchange of ideas and meetings, but it is also a space for business. At a global level, the impact of Artistic Perfumery on the global beauty market is close to 2%, but its impact on alcoholic perfumery is continuously increasing, reaching points which on average are around 10% in many countries. In our market, which certainly has the longest specific activity in the sector, has reached important levels. In Italy, in fact, in 2023 the turnover volume of designer perfumery is estimated at over 310 million euros, corresponding to the 2.7% of the Italian beauty business on the domestic market, over 14% of the turnover of the perfumery channel and a little more of 30% of fragrance sales. “Niche” perfumery is in the midst of a radical and rapid transformation, so profound as to alter the very way it is named; in fact, today we prefer to define it as "artistic and research" perfumery.

EXPERIENCE LAB
Experience Lab will also be held in the spaces of Allianz MiCo, Milan Convention Centre, the reference event for beauty research and excellence in Italy, the first Italian event, open to sector operators and the public, which connects unique brands , selected based on their excellence in the reference niche, with operators in the international perfumery and beauty sector. The event, born as a concrete response for a new type of consumer, digitalised, interested in products other than the mass market or the most well-known brands, attentive to the concept and innovative contents, with this fourth edition aims to give visibility to the excellence in this sector and offer experiences and insights.
THE ESXENCE EVENTS CALENDAR
Esxence aims to promote the most sought-after olfactory culture by offering the public of professionals and enthusiasts an interesting calendar of meetings, workshops and olfactory journeys open to operators and the public, held by international experts, scholars and researchers, including Annick Le Guérér, anthropologist, historian and perfume expert and Calice Becker, Director of the Givaudan Perfumery School and Co-President of the International Society of Perfumers-Creators.
This year's initiatives will deal with highly topical issues such as the perception and diffusion of research perfumery in Eastern markets, with particular attention to the Middle East and China, Artificial Intelligence, sustainability, smell education, a round table dedicated to young emerging perfumers, as well as olfactory experiences to discover the most sought-after raw materials.
Also for this edition, CFF Creative Flavors & Fragrances will actively participate with its own experiential laboratory, a moment much awaited by sector professionals and enthusiasts, to be able to meet the protagonists of the world of perfumery and with their guide explore unique agreements and raw materials . A presence that confirms the link between the Fragrance House and the international artistic perfumery fair.
Also for this the exhibition THE SCENT OF CINEMA @ ESXENCE 2024, in which the similarity between perfume and cinema will be represented.

The Essencional Study Center was founded by Silvio Levi in 2019 with the aim of contributing to the research and development of the Artistic Perfumery sector and as a natural continuation of the Esxence workshops. In 2019 the Study Center presented "Whispers about Artistic Perfumery", a study on the online perception of Artistic Perfumery. In 2020 it launched the website www.essencional.com which publishes original editorial content such as interviews with brands, noses, protagonists and insights into artistic perfumery, offering a sector observatory service, presenting articles from other sites and identified as authoritative by a board of Italian and international advisors. Since 2019, Essencional has been a partner of Esxence for the definition of the program of events for the event.
