Use and benefits of the fabric face mask
Interview with Florence Bernardin, expert on beauty trends in Asia and founder of a market research company specializing in the cosmetics sector.
Taking inspiration from the solid female enthusiasm for the BB Cream presented in 2011, and for Miracle sleeping cream, launched in 2015, Garnier is once again inspired by an Asian trend: the sheet mask.
There face mask in Garnier Hydrabomb fabric is the answer to another constantly growing trend in Asia and, recently, in the rest of the world.
How do you explain this trend and the needs it satisfies?
The fabric mask (made of canvas or paper infused with skincare products) is another example of how Asian beauty rituals continue to be a source of inspiration for the world of cosmetics.
Without any need for rinsing, they offer a concentrated treatment with perceivable and immediately visible results that satisfy Asian women's search for beauty.
The sheet mask brings into homes a technique previously reserved for salons: the professional facial mask. It works as an intensive treatment and the effects are immediately visible and perceptible. This is another reason for its success: it is a simpler and more accessible way of obtaining high-quality results. Improves the quality of the skin, plumps, smoothes and refines the texture. The skin receives plenty of hydration while the mask remains on the face.
How has this sheet mask trend evolved from its origin in Asia to today's worldwide availability?
This trend began as a luxury spa treatment over thirty years ago in Japan and has become increasingly accessible since reaching the Korean market in 2004. Now it is a much more developed product, not only in terms of texture but also regarding ingredients, shape and color.
The number of products on the market has increased exponentially and the sheet mask is now part of the daily beauty routine in Korea. Inspired by the Asian ritual of the sheet mask, Garnier created the Hydra Bomb sheet mask to make this technology accessible to European consumers.
How do these masks work? What are the benefits?
A sheet mask is like pajamas for your face, a sort of cocoon that envelops your skin. One of the main advantages of a sheet mask is the ability to adhere to the skin; shapes and materials have undergone constant evolution in this sense. Once you have applied the mask to cleansed skin, you can take advantage of the application time to relax. The time you dedicate to the mask becomes a well-deserved moment of relaxation!
