Strobing what is the new makeup technique
The new trend in make-up is called Strobing. But what exactly is this “unknown”?
For months, if not years, Kim Kardashian and other influencers have pestered us with their tutorials on contouring, a technique used to sculpt facial features through chiaroscuro. Well, take all the notions you have learned and put them aside: now the exact opposite is in fashion!
The strobing it is a technique used to create areas of light on the face and not surprisingly, its name derives from the strobe effect of the intermittent light. In fact, it is widely used in photo shoots precisely because it responds perfectly to camera flashes and is able to give a healthy and well-groomed appearance.
But how is the strobing effect created?
After having adequately prepared the skin, freeing it from impurities and hydrating it, the foundation should be applied, not just any one but one capable of providing softness, hydration and which has a medium-low coverage, to avoid recreating a mask effect. As with contouring, so does it strobing it is however a chiaroscuro technique. It is certainly based on shine and shimmers, but the basics of corrective makeup should not be forgotten, the rules of "wear in and wear out", to accentuate the areas you want to highlight.
To be on the safe side, it is better to create highlights especially under the eyebrow arch, on the cheekbones, on the bridge of the nose and on the forehead between the eyebrows, without forgetting the cupid's bow of the lips and the chin.
Once the chiaroscuro has been created, we move on to completing the make-up of the entire face, which in any case must be minimal!
Let's not forget that strobing was created precisely to obtain that "girl next door" look, with a perfect and flawless base, but with a soap and water look. Then go ahead with mascara and nude colors on the lips, smokey eyes should be absolutely avoided.
As mentioned previously, this technique takes inspiration from photo shoots and it is good that the base is absolutely perfect: this is why one of the small disadvantages of strobing can be that it highlights small skin defects. Therefore, if you have rather porous skin, with impurities, therefore very oily skin, it is better to avoid it, because it would only highlight those small defects. On the contrary, however, it is a very advantageous technique due to its versatility: it is in fact suitable for all occasions, in the office, during the day and in the evening! Among the products on the market, there are thousands of them that offer real palettes to recreate this effect. Mac Cosmetics has created a real line designed for this technique, which goes from the moisturizing cream as a base, to the bronzing powder, in short, a capsule that is a real gem, suitable for all needs and occasions!
