Eyeliner: perfect application to enhance your look
Eyeliner is a cosmetic that has origins far back in time. Discover with us the different tips and how to best apply it.
It was born in ancient Egypt, where it had different names depending on the area in which they were widespread:
- KHOL in Arab countries;
- KAJAL in Asian countries.
In those times it was used exclusively for medical purposes; it was a powder obtained from animal fat, galena, sulfur and malachite and was used to prevent infections and vision problems and protect children from the evil eye.
The most famous eyeliner stroke that we will all remember is Cleopatra's.
Nowadays, the woman who applies eyeliner appears elegant, charming and sensual. But although we think it is easy, behind its application there are many pitfalls and in fact many times the line is imprecise, one longer, one shorter, one thicker and one thinner. Today we suggest some methods to apply it correctly.
The first piece of advice and attention should be paid to the cut of the eyes as the application varies depending on their shape:
- If you have eyes with a basically rounded shape, large or small it makes no difference, you will need to "stretch" the eye to make it appear less round and therefore you will have to draw a line starting from about half the eye and going outwards ending with the tail slightly upwards;
- If, however, the shape of your eye is narrower and thinner, you will need to enlarge it and therefore the ideal line to draw will start from the internal corner of the eye going outwards and end with the tail pointing upwards;
- If your eyes are downturned and slightly drooping, they will need to be raised and therefore you will draw a line starting from the inside of the eye going outwards with a rather accentuated tail and upwards;
- The last case is that of the upturned eye which is not considered a defect to be corrected, but we can still try to lower it slightly by drawing a line starting from the internal corner of the eye, not going upwards in the end, but only towards the 'external. We then draw a line from the middle of the lower ciliary edge and join it with the upper one.
There are also different types of eyeliner to choose from eye makeup depending on your skill and experience:
- EYELINER WITH THIN TIP which requires a more expert hand, allows you to outline the eye perfectly with a thin line. If, however, you have difficulty applying it, you can help yourself with a fine-tipped brush so that even if you have drawn an imprecise line, it will be blended and any errors will not be noticed, creating a soft make-up;
- PEN EYELINER, suitable for an inexperienced hand, it is convenient because you can hold it like a classic marker and therefore have a steady hand to draw a more precise line. It draws a light line without thicknesses and the felt tip allows you to regulate the flow of the product.
- THE CREAM EYELINER It comes in a jar, and must be removed with a brush. We can get different thicknesses of the line we draw, precisely because we decide which brush to use. We choose a brush with a fine tip if we want a thinner line and to highlight the eye. While if we want to draw a thicker line, which makes our make up more sophisticated, it is better to use a slightly larger brush, but still with a pointed shape.
- PENCIL EYELINER, ideal for those who are already used to using eye pencil, is the most modern version of eyeliner and is easy to apply.
- LIQUID EYELINER, has a brush that allows you to draw strokes of a very intense and brilliant color. Perfect for creating shiny effect looks.
- FELT EYELINER, In this type of eyeliner the applicator is not perfectly thin as in the previous case, but is initially a little wider and then ends up pointed. These types of eyeliner are not suitable for those who prefer to obtain a very thin line, while they are excellent for creating make-up in perfect 60s style, with fairly thick eyeliner lines.
To have an elegant look there are many variations, and you? What type of eyeliner do you prefer for your eyes?
